The System Sensor 200 series is a series of addressable detectors.

History

The 200 series was released in 1993 as a low-profile version of the 500 series with common housing for ionization and photoelectric smoke detectors.[1]

In 1995, System Sensor introduced the 3251 OMNI Sensor with ionization, photoelectric, and heat sensors.[2] The OMNI Sensor featured thermistors similar to the 2300 series, but the thermistor cells were reduced in size to match the 1251 and 2251.

Around 2000, the 1251 and 2251 were updated to place the digits on the address switches closer together, providing space for options 10-15 on advanced protocol models. The 5251P and 5251RP heat detectors were also introduced as successors to the 5551B and 5551R with this change, and the 2251T was introduced with a similar thermistor design to the 3251 to replace the 2551THR.

In late 2000, System Sensor introduced the 2251TM Acclimate detector.[3][4] The OMNI Sensor was later discontinued and replaced with the Acclimate detector.[5]

In 2002, System Sensor introduced the Pinnacle laser smoke detector as a replacement for the LZR-1.[6]

In 2003, all detectors besides the Pinnacle detector were redesigned to have a shape more closely resembling the i3 series.[7] The new models could be identified with the "B" suffix, and the standard temperature heat detectors were marked with a gray circle outline. The 5251H was also introduced at this time, featuring the new design and a black circle marking.

Between 2003 and 2004, the duct detectors were updated to support a wider air velocity range. The new models had an L suffix at the end.

In 2004, beam detectors were introduced.[8] These were similar to the conventional beam detectors in the BEAM series.

In 2007, System Sensor introduced the 2251-COPTIR, which included 4 sensors.[9][10] System Sensor also introduced the 7251DH laser duct detector around this time.[11]

Around 2008, the B224RB relay base and B224BI isolator base were redesigned to resemble the B200S sounder base, which was released in 2009 together with the B200SR.[12][13] The B200SR functioned as a replacement for the B501 sounder bases, while the B200S was controlled by the FACP. Both models used the same tone as the SpectrAlert Advance horn.

Between 2009 and 2010, System Sensor discontinued the Innovair detectors due to the release of the InnovairFlex series.[14] The 2251BR was released as a remote test capable detector that could be placed in an InnovairFlex base.

In 2015, System Sensor introduced the B200S-LF and B200SR-LF as low frequency versions of the B200S and B200SR respectively.[15]

In July 2015, System Sensor discontinued the ionization smoke detectors due to the increased manufacturing and recycling costs.[16] Depending on the application, consumers were instructed to use photoelectric, multi-criteria, aspirating, or laser detectors.

Rebrands

Faraday

Faraday rebranded 200 series products as part of the 8400 series, 9100 series, and 9200 series until 2004.[27][28][29]

Fire-Lite Alarms

350 series

Fire-Lite Alarms started rebranding the original 200 series in 2001 as the 350 series, replacing the 300 series.[30] The 350 series supported extended addressing for the MS-9600, but it did not support LiteSpeed.
