The SpectrAlert Advance Series is a series of fire alarm notification appliances that were manufactured by the American fire alarm company System Sensor. It is the successor to the original SpectrAlert series. In 2017, the SpectrAlert Advance series were replaced by the L series and most of the SpectrAlert Advance devices were discontinued, although outdoor models and mini horns are still in production.

History

System Sensor introduced the SpectrAlert Advance series in 2006, replacing the original SpectrAlert line. The series initially consisted of horn/strobes, remote strobes, remote horns, chimes, and chime/strobes. A pre-wiring feature was introduced to compete with the Gentex Commander2 Series, and the strobes were redesigned to work on both walls and ceilings, allowing the devices to compete with the Siemens "The Adapter" strobes. A new patented multi-frequency horn was also introduced in this series. Finally, the chimes were redesigned to use a small sounder similar to the horns, with only one frequency supported, and a slow whoop tone was added.

The SpectrAlert Advance Series was expanded in 2008 with the introduction of speakers and speaker/strobe models models, and then again in 2011 with the addition of dual strobe expander plates. The SpectrAlert Advance series got expanded once again in 2013 with low frequency sounders and sounder/strobes. The series continued production with little change until 2017 when System Sensor introduced the L-Series, replacing most of the Advance line with their L-Series counterparts. Most of the devices in the SpectrAlert Advance line were discontinued in 2017, with the exception of low frequency sounders and sounder/strobes, 4-wire horn/strobes, and dual strobe expander plates, which were kept in production until 2020. In 2020 System Sensor brought back the low-frequency devices from the SpectrAlert Advance line for a short time in response to a parts shortage restricting production of L-Series low-frequency devices. Outdoor models and mini horns are currently the only products of the SpectrAlert Advance series that are still in production.

Features

The SpectrAlert Advance series has selectable candela ranging from 15, 15/75, 30, 75, 95, 110 and 115 candela for standard devices and 135,150,177, and 185 for high candela devices.

Horns and horn/strobe models have Temporal High, Temporal Medium, Temporal Low, Non-Temporal High, Non-Temporal Medium, Non Temporal Low, Coded High, Coded Medium and Coded Low as tone selections (Coded options are only available on 4 wire and Horn only devices).

Chimes and chime/strobe models have 1 Second Chime High, 1 Second Chime Low, 1/4 Second Chime High, 1/4 Second Chime Low, Temporal Chime High, Temporal Chime Low, 5 Second Whoop High, 5 Second Whoop Low, and One Test Chime as tone selections.

Low frequency sounder and sounder/strobe models have Temporal 3, Continuous, and Coded for tone selections (Coded only available for the HR-LF and HW-LF).

Speaker and speaker/strobe models have a selectable watt range from 2W, 1W, 1/2W, and 1/4W.

The SpectrAlert Advance series features a plug in design where the mounting bracket is first installed on the wall and the wires connected, then the device is fitted to the bracket and held in place with a screw. All devices in the SpectrAlert Advance series can be synchronized together by a panel with System Sensor Sync capability or with a System Sensor MDL/MDL3 sync module.
