The 400 series is a lineup of conventional detectors produced by System Sensor.

History

The 1400 series ionization smoke detectors were introduced in 1988 and was phased out after 2007, while the 2400 series was introduced in 1988 and was discontinued in 2005. The 2400 replaced the BRK 2800 series and was replaced by the System Sensor i3.

In 1993, duct smoke detectors were released.[2] The 5451 heat detector was also released in 1993.[3]

In 1997, the sounder models of the photoelectric detectors were discontinued due to the release of new 100 series models that produced a temporal 3 pattern.[4]

In 2005, 2400TH, 2412THB, 2424TH, and 2451TH units manufactured between March and September 2004 were recalled.[5][6] Around this time, the photoelectric detectors were discontinued. Direct-Wire models were replaced with the i3 series, while the plug-in models were replaced with the 2151.

In 2006, the 6424 beam detector was discontinued and replaced with the BEAM1224.[7]

In 2007, the Direct-Wire ionization detectors were discontinued and replaced with the plug-in 1451.[8] The 1451 was discontinued at the end of 2008 with no direct replacement.[9]

In 2011, the 5451 was discontinued and replaced with the 5151.[10]

Some say that the 100 series replaced the 400 series, but that is only partially true because the 100 series was produced alongside the 400 series, as a low-profile version.
