The System Sensor 500 series is a series of addressable detectors and modules.

History

The 500 series was introduced in 1987 together with the 400 series and Fire-Lite AM 2020 (more commonly known under the Notifier brand).

In 1992, System Sensor introduced the M500X isolator module.[1]

In 1999, the 1551B and 2551HR were designated exclusively for duct use, and the remaining detectors were discontinued and replaced with 200 series equivalents.[2][3] The address selection dials on the modules were also updated at this time to provide space for extended addressing, and the M500CH was replaced with separate M500R and M500S modules depending on whether supervision was required.

The 1551B/2551HR detectors and DH500 duct housings were discontinued around 2000 due to the release of the Innovair duct detectors.

In 2017, the module faceplates were updated to a bright white color, similar to the white L-Series devices. Replacement faceplates in both white and ivory were provided for retrofit applications.[4]

Monaco

Monaco Enterprises rebranded CLIP-only 500 series devices as "Type I" devices and devices capable of the advanced protocol (AP) as "Type II" devices. Monaco also rebranded the M500X as the 729-140-00, and this device was not labeled by either type because it does not directly interact with the SLC communications.[36]
