Monaco Enterprises is a small manufacturer and distributor of fire alarm systems.

History

Monaco was founded in 1971 with the goal of providing high quality fire protection systems to the US Government.[1] Some their first products were the C-99A and C-100 conventional panels. Sometime in the late 70s or late 80s, the Firefly was developed. It was a very small single zone conventional panel designed primarily for small military encampments and bunkers. Very little can be found online about these older panels.

The Vulcan 1 was introduced in the 1980s. It came with 2 zones by default, but it was expandable by up to 12 zones via expansion cards. This panel has a very good reputation among enthusiasts, but is relatively hard to come by or find parts for without directly contacting Monaco. The Vulcan 1 was still being sold by Monaco up until 2023-2024.[2]

The multi-zone M-2 conventional panel was introduced in the 1980s, replacing its predecessor, the M-1. The M-2 interface is still being used on some MAAP(+) addressable panels. It is still being sold by Monaco as of this writing.

The MAAP addressable panels were introduced sometime in the 1990s or 2000s. The MAAP-X voice evacuation panel is currently their flagship.[3]

Products

Monaco currently sells the M-2, MAAP(+), MAAP-2 and MAAP-X control panels, but will send resources or parts (paid) upon request for any older panel. Their products have a very long support period, even after discontinuation.

Monaco today mainly uses System Sensor Select™ series detectors (rebranded as "Type I" for CLIP models and "Type II" for AP models) and Honeywell modules that run Monaco's AP (Advanced Protocol). They rebrand many different pull stations, including the BG-12. Monaco also uses System Sensor notification appliances, but also used to rebrand various Wheelock devices in the 80s and 90s.[4]

Monaco systems are very rare outside of government facilities and the city of Spokane, where they are based.
