Honeywell International, Inc. is an American company that owns many subsidiaries, including their building technologies bossiness, that owns a lot of fire alarm/security companies. This article will only cover Honeywell's business in fire alarm and security.

History

In the 90's, all the companies that Honeywell currently owns where either owned by Pittway, or were independent. Honeywell was rebranding mainly Wheelock and Radionics products.

In the early 2000's, Honeywell bought Pittway. Honeywell now owned Fire-Lite, Notifier, FCI, Ademco, and System Sensor.

Ademco products started to be branded under the Honeywell name, and Honeywell had already stopped rebranding Wheelock and Radionics products.

Honeywell did not just buy Pittway, Honeywell also bought Gamewell in the 2000's and merged Gamewell and FCI to Gamewell-FCI. They also bought Silent Knight.

At some point, Honeywell also bought some other international alarm companies, mainly in Europe and the Middle East.

At some point in the 2010's, Honeywell sold their residential business of Ademco to Resideo, the Honeywell residential security business is currently part of Resideo and is branded Honeywell Home.

There has been some controversy among the fire alarm community, mainly techs, about Honeywell in 2018 and still continues today claiming about quality control issues that seems to be from leadership changes. These are mainly with software on the newest Honeywell Fire Panels, the new "SD365 style detectors" having issues, and the LED System Sensor L-Series.

There has been talk in 2023 around the potential of Honeywell discarding the Fire-Lite and Gamewell-FCI brands and the products of these companies being branded as just Honeywell while the other companies brand stays in use. As of February 2023, there is no official press release about it.
