The Faraday 2800 series is a series of synchronizable horns and multitone horns.
History
The 2800 series was released in 1998 with 282x and 288x subseries as direct replacements for the 632x and 638x respectively, and the 288x series replaced many of the signals in the 5300 series. The 2800 series featured the clear-lens strobes seen throughout the Siemens U series.
In March 2001, the strobes were replaced with multicandela "The Adapter" strobes, which competed with the Wheelock SPEC1FIRE series.[1]
In February 2002, Faraday released the 283x horns to replace the 282x horns. The 283x horns featured a volume selector and were capable of free-run operation for consistency with The Adapter strobes. 4-wire operation was also supported by the 283x horns.
In August 2004, Faraday introduced the 2836 and 2837, which were weatherproof versions of the existing 283x horns. The 2837 initially had 100 candela sync and non-sync options, but these were replaced with outdoor multi-candela strobes in November 2005.
The 2800 series was discontinued in 2007 as a result of the Wheelock, Inc., v. Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. lawsuit.
