The Wheelock HS series is a series of horns and 4-wire horn strobes with completely independent horn and strobe control.

History

The HS4 was released in 2003 as a replacement for the NS4.[1] The device used the same design as the MT and AMT and the same synchronizable horn as the AS. Models were produced with 15/75 candela, 185 candela, and multi-candela strobes. A horn-only HS was also released at this time.

In late 2003, the 185 candela strobe was replaced with a MCWH strobe that could either output 135 or 185 candela.[3]

In the mid 2000s, ceiling mount models of the HS4 were released.[4] The ceiling mount models used either MCC or MCCH strobes.

At the end of 2015, the HS4-241575W models were discontinued, and customers were instructed to switch to the HS4-24MCW models.[5]

The HS series was discontinued in 2023, and consumers were instructed to instead use the Eluxa ELMTS, which has the same 4-wire synchronization capabilities when set to the Code 3 horn.[2]

Features

Like the AS, the HS series horns have 3 volume options. Unlike the NS4, the HS4 horn can still operate without power to the strobe.[6] Both the horn and strobe can be synchronized by the Wheelock sync protocol.

Rebrands

Siemens

Siemens started rebranding the HS series around 2007, when the Wheelock, Inc., v. Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. lawsuit required the Siemens U series to be discontinued. The series was also sold under the Faraday brand using the same model names to replace the 2800 series, 6200 series, and 6300 series.[8]
